Douglas Golf Club Fencing

Douglas Golf Club Fencing

The golf course, set on a plateau with beautiful views across the fairways, Cork City, and the Inner Harbour, is not just a venue for golf enthusiasts but also a thriving community hub. Its renowned restaurant and bar, which double as both a clubhouse and popular event space, offer a serene escape for visitors. Douglas Golf Club management recognized the need to enhance the outdoor facilities, particularly the terrace area, which plays a central role in hosting patrons, families, and guests for various functions. As part of a broader renovation effort, the goal was to modernize the exterior space while ensuring it complemented the charm of the setting and the serenity of the course, remaining safe, accessible, and visually appealing for a wide range of users.

Project Breakdown

The project focused on revitalising the outdoor terrace connected to the restaurant and bar area. This space serves as a key social zone for both casual visitors and larger groups attending events such as weddings, corporate gatherings, and club functions. The renovation required durable and sustainable materials, which could withstand frequent use, provide safety for families, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the clubhouse.

The renovation team faced a variety of challenges and specific needs in upgrading the outdoor space. First and foremost, they required a decking solution that would offer long-term durability given the high foot traffic in the outdoor dining area. Additionally, the team needed fencing that would integrate seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the golf course, blending into the landscape while also providing privacy and a clear boundary between areas. Both materials used needed to be eco-friendly, reflecting the golf course's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

The Solution

EnviroBuild’s fencing and decking were chosen to meet the specific needs of this renovation. The golf course management selected Hyperion recycled decking for the terrace area, known for its strength, sustainability, and low-maintenance requirements. The decking not only enhances the space’s modern look but also contributes to the golf course’s environmental goals. For added safety, particularly in a family-friendly setting, the team made use of decking gap inserts, which were vital in preventing objects from falling through the gaps, ensuring a secure environment for children.

The team selected EnviroBuild's Stone Composite Fencing to create a sleek and subtle boundary solution for the terrace. Its modern design aligned with the course’s natural surroundings, offering a private and refined outdoor space that remained visually connected to the rest of the course.

Customer Feedback “The members of the golf course are very pleased with their new clubhouse and we have gotten many compliments on the fencing and are impressed with the sustainability, durability and no-maintenance aspect of the fence. It also got a very stiff test about a week after opening when a big storm hit causing lots of damage everywhere, but the fence stood up." - Tom Fitzgerald, Composite Deck
